For high-end aluminum profiles and precision castings, fluctuations in hydrogen content within molten aluminum can alter internal metallographic structures. Hydrogen-induced micropores degrade mechanical properties and cause non-conformity during non-destructive testing (NDT).
After conventional furnace refining, molten aluminum reabsorbs hydrogen when exposed to air in the launder. High-end orders demand consistent metallographic indicators, yet furnace-only treatment struggles to maintain melt cleanliness throughout the transfer process. This makes an in-line purification unit essential before casting.
Mounted on the launder between the holding furnace and the mold, the unit's twin rotors rotate at high speed to shear argon or nitrogen into micro-sized fine bubbles. These bubbles disperse uniformly throughout the molten aluminum. Dissolved hydrogen diffuses into the bubbles and escapes as they rise to the surface. Suspended alumina inclusions are captured simultaneously, achieving both hydrogen and slag removal. The unit integrates into existing lines without halting continuous casting.

The unit serves high-end aluminum billets, automotive precision aluminum castings, and aerospace aluminum blanks. An insulated refractory cabinet limits melt temperature loss, while the compact footprint reduces reconstruction work on original launders.
The molten aluminum in-line degassing unit purifies the aluminum melt at the casting stage and stabilizes hydrogen levels to maintain consistent casting metallography. It helps aluminum mills meet NDT and mechanical property acceptance requirements from high-end aluminum buyers.
