In aluminum extrusion plants, long-bar loading and billet preparation can become bottlenecks when operators must repeatedly position, feed, cut, and transfer individual bars. A multi-bar aluminum saw provides another approach by combining long-bar loading, feeding, head cutting, sizing, and discharge within one production line.

According to the equipment specification, the automatic aluminum billet cutting machine is designed for aluminum alloy bars with diameters from Ø80 to Ø254 mm. The system includes a buffering and alignment table, multi-bar loading and unloading machine, feeding conveyor, long-bar gang saw, discharge mechanism, sizing equipment, chip collection, hydraulic system, and electrical control system.

How Multi-Bar Cutting Works

The process begins with a crane placing long aluminum bars on the buffer and alignment table. The loading mechanism then transfers multiple bars onto the feeding roller conveyor. After the bars enter the saw, the machine clamps and cuts the head section before transferring the bars toward the sizing process. Finished bars are moved to the storage rack, while heads, tails, and aluminum chips are collected separately. PLC control, HMI input, fault alarms, and automatic interlock protection are included in the control process.

Five Bars at One Time

One notable specification is the stated sawing quantity of five Ø120 mm bars at once. The continuous sawing specification is ≤60 seconds per five bars, based on Ø120 * 6000 mm bars. This configuration is particularly relevant to extrusion plants processing multiple aluminum bars in batches rather than cutting each bar separately.

The conveyor speed is 25 m/min and adjustable, while the maximum pre-cut bar length is 13,000 mm. These parameters provide defined operating conditions for long-bar feeding and downstream sizing.

Why This Configuration Matters

For aluminum extrusion billet preparation, the main value of a multi-billet aluminum saw is process integration. Instead of treating loading, sawing, sizing, discharge, and scrap collection as isolated operations, the equipment connects these stages into a continuous workflow.

The specification lists a 4500–6000 mm sizing length and ±2 mm length accuracy, providing clear reference parameters for cut-to-length requirements. The saw uses a Ø900 mm blade, with the blade specification listed as Φ900 * Φ50 * 72T alloy blade.
