Product Description
Melt Stability Challenges in High-Capacity Aluminum Casting Lines

High-capacity continuous aluminum casting lines maintain a steady, high throughput of molten metal. However, melt conditions tend to fluctuate with raw material batches and furnace operating status. After furnace refining, molten aluminum contacts air during long-distance launder transfer, leading to variable hydrogen and inclusion levels. This melt inconsistency causes uneven quality across cast batches and complicates yield control. Large-scale melting plants cannot offset melt changes in launders through frequent furnace adjustments, making an in-line purification unit essential before casting.

Purification Mechanism of the In-line Degassing Unit
Twin-Rotor Inert Gas Dispersion Refining Structure

Installed on the launder between the holding furnace and the mold, twin rotors rotate at constant speed to shear argon or nitrogen into micro bubbles that are evenly distributed throughout the molten aluminum. Dissolved hydrogen diffuses into the bubbles and escapes during flotation. Suspended solid inclusions are captured by the bubbles, enabling simultaneous hydrogen and slag removal. The unit supports long-hour continuous operation without interrupting high-volume casting.

Application & Maintenance Notes
  • Designed for high-output aluminum billet and slab casting lines, as well as extrusion billet casting processes.
  • Insulated cabinet limits melt temperature drop.
  • Compact form fits existing launder layouts and avoids extensive line reconstruction.
  • Graphite rotors are consumable parts to be replaced periodically based on continuous runtime and impurity load.
  • The gas supply control system dynamically adjusts gas parameters according to real-time metal flow to sustain stable melt indicators.
Summary

Built for high-capacity continuous aluminum casting lines, this in-line degassing unit purifies molten aluminum in launders and reduces melt fluctuations caused by raw materials and metal transfer, ensuring consistent quality across cast batches.
